The Farming Recovery Fund was originally opened in September 2019 with an extension added to cover the flooding that occurred in November 2019. On 20th March 2020, it was announced that a further £6million would be made available for farmers to recover from the exceptional flooding events. This takes the total funding available to £10million.
The Closing Date for Wainfleet, Swaledale, Arkengarthdale and Wensleydale was 31 March 2020.
The Closing Date for South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire is 31 July 2020 at 5pm.
The new fund will be opened to farmers in Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, East and North Yorkshire together with a further extension to those in Nottinghamshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. We have not been told when the applications will be open or when they will close. We will provide updates as they are released by the Government. All information regarding this can be found on the following webpage - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/farming-recovery-fund-extension-2020
Affected farmers can claim for grants between £500 and £25,000 to cover uninsurable repair costs including re-cultivation of farmland, alleviating soil compaction or where agricultural parcels are no longer stock proof. Please note that if you have been affected by recent flooding and already begun repairing the damage caused, records should be kept of all relevant evidence. Relevant evidence includes receipts and before and after photos.
