Dairy Response Fund 2020

Due to the Covid-19 Outbreak, the dairy industry has faced several challenges including excess milk, falling prices and a reduced demand from the hospitality sector. The Dairy Response Fund has been set up to provide support to those dairy farmers most in need. The fund is to help England’s dairy farmers overcome the impact of the Covid-19 as well as supporting those who have seen a decreased demand for their products from the hospitality sector. Please note that the fund is specifically for dairy farmers in England who produce cows’ milk.

The fund will allow those facing financial difficulties and excess milk to continue to operate and sustain production capacity without impacting animal welfare as the fund is to help cover ongoing costs. Eligible dairy farmers will be entitled to up to £10,000 each which is based upon 70% of their losses from actual milk sales during April and May.

You may apply for the scheme if the following apply to you:

  1. You supply cows’ milk to a wholesale producer
  2. You have had a reduction in your average prices paid for your milk of 25% or more in April 2020 compared to that paid in February 2020. In order to determine your business eligibility please go to page 3 of the handbook online and fill out table. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/893105/Dairy_Response_Fund_2020_guidance_v1.0.pdf
